How Rin comes into the equation as a third love interest for Vincent is yet to be seen, but adding a main character to an already established story sounds like something that could easily feel forced. In the original game, she comes over as a pushy girlfriend one would want to get rid of as quickly as possible, but with new context as the girl of schoolboy Vincent’s dreams, it suddenly makes much more sense to stick with her rather than going after the blonde bombshell. This adds a subtle yet significant new layer to Vincent’s character that wasn’t there before, and more importantly, it makes Katherine a much more interesting and likeable character. While the original two heroines are rather assertive, Hashino refers to Rin’s character as “more modest and sweet” and tells me that “she listens to Vincent’s problems and supports him.” This comes in rather handy for Vincent, as he doesn’t seem the type who could keep a four-way love square secret. That makes three Catherines, but Rin is a little different. Her name is Qatherine, referred to simply as Rin. Full Body is still very much the same at its core, but it adds a third love interest for Vincent. You pull out and push blocks to lay out a path for Vincent to climb to the top and escape from his horrific nightmares and monstrous enemies based on his real-life anxieties, such as a giant screaming baby. But once Vincent leaves the bar and goes home to sleep, his nightmares play out as challenging puzzles in which he must climb giant walls of blocks. At the Stray Sheep bar, Vincent can order different drinks and talk with his friends as well as other customers, and in between he exchanges texts with both girls.
CATHERINE FULL BODY VOICE ACTORS PC
The original version of the game, which launched on the PS3 and Xbox 360, was also recently re-released on PC as Catherine Classic.The game is a combination of adventure and puzzle gameplay. We won’t get into the weeds on that here, but whether or not this is something the localization team(s) plan to address in some way, or release the game, warts and all, so to speak, has not been talked about.Ĭatherine: Full Body releases worldwide September 3 exclusively for PlayStation 4 (a PlayStation Vita version released in Japan, but that will not see a worldwide release). It’s worth mentioning that the game has come under some controversy due to what some see as problematic treatment of transgender characters in its store (it released earlier in the year in Japan). Full Body will include new cinematics, story branches, puzzles, and difficulty modes, including a puzzle-free mode for those who just want to enjoy the story. The trailer also shows off some gameplay, which involves you moving blocks against the clock to reach the top of a tower. Troy Baker and Laura Bailey have both seen soaring careers since Catherine, so it’s good to see them come back even for a relatively smaller title like this one. You can see from the trailer below that Full Body retains the same frantic tone, while a lot of the voice actors from the original title are returning. The remaster, Catherine: Full Body, is on the verge of its worldwide release, and a new trailer shows off the English dub, including some big names returning. It was one of Atlus’ largest worldwide successes at the time and has crafted a strong following based on its unique setting and dealing with sexual themes, something unheard of in games at the time (and still rare now). Catherine, the unusual puzzle game about infidelity and sheep people, released originally in 2011.
